China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “سينوتروك”) was formerly known as Jinan Automobile Manufacturing Plant, which was founded in 1930 and is the cradle of my country’s heavy-duty automobile industry. In 1960, China’s first heavy-duty automobile, the Yellow River brand JN150 eight-ton truck, was manufactured, ending China’s history of not being able to produce heavy-duty automobiles. On May 4 of that year, Chairman Mao Zedong visited Jinan, visited the prototype and gave it a high evaluation. On January 11, 1966, Chairman Zhu De personally wrote the word “Yellow River” for it. In the early days of socialist construction, the “Yellow River” vehicle was well-known throughout the country, made significant contributions to the development of the national economy and national defense construction, and became one of the iconic achievements of the Chinese nation’s self-reliance and hard work. In 1983, under the personal concern of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, the Austrian Steyr heavy-duty automobile project was successfully introduced, making it the first domestic enterprise to fully introduce foreign heavy-duty automobile complete vehicle manufacturing technology. “Steyr” once became synonymous with my country’s heavy-duty trucks.
In 2007, it successfully achieved a red chip listing on the main board of Hong Kong, becoming the first red chip listed in my country’s manufacturing industry, and initially building a platform for international development. In 2004, the new generation of heavy-duty trucks independently developed by HOWO was born and launched on the market in 2005, achieving the production and sales of more than 10,000 vehicles that year, setting a new record in the history of Chinese heavy-duty trucks at that time. In 2013, the Shantek series of products with independent intellectual property rights were officially launched on the market, leading the development of the domestic heavy-duty automobile industry. In 2020, a new generation of high-end national brand “Yellow River” heavy-duty trucks will be launched to the world, leading China’s heavy-duty trucks to become world-class.
SINOTRUK mainly develops, produces and sells various trucks, special vehicles, special-purpose vehicles, and assemblies and auto parts such as engines, gearboxes, and axles. It has a full range of commercial vehicle brands such as Yellow River, Shantek, and HOWO. It is one of the heavy-duty truck companies with the most complete drive forms and power coverage in my country’s heavy-duty truck industry. It has three listed companies, namely, Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. (Hong Kong red chip company), Sinotruk Jinan Truck Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen A-share listed company), and Zhongtong Bus Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen A-share listed company). Its products are exported to more than 110 countries and regions, accounting for half of my country’s heavy-duty truck exports.

Sinotruk has been awarded the honorary titles of “China’s Outstanding Innovative Enterprise” and “China’s Quality and Integrity Enterprise”. The project “Key Technologies and Industrialization of Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Automatic Transmission Hybrid Powertrain Assembly” won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
Since 2018, the new leadership team of Sinotruk has led all employees to conscientiously implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping to “focus on the main business”, carry out a series of drastic reforms, create a new ecology of passion for work, and the company has entered the fast lane of high-quality development. In 2023, Sinotruk’s operating performance led the industry strongly. The annual operating income was 173.1 billion yuan, the industrial added value was 19.1 billion yuan, and the vehicle sales volume was 335,000 units, of which 130,000 heavy trucks were exported. It is the enterprise with the highest market share and export share of heavy trucks. In 2023, Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. ranked 385th in the “Top 500 Chinese Enterprises”, 197th in the “Top 500 Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises”, and 80th in the “Top 100 Most Valuable Brands in China”.
